Polishing a Sharpener Knife

Picture
Before polishing your freshly sharpened knife, remove the masking tape and lay it down (angle 10-13 degrees) and slowly and with almost no pressure pull back until the end of the skin. Then turn the blade but only over the back, not over the blade, again gently, and place the first blade on the back skin and pull back again. Those of you who have watched movies in which  some guy sharpens the knife with astonishing speed or some wild barber with a mustache sharpens his blade with a lightning speed should forget about it because it is only Hollywood nonsense.
With polishing we reduce the height of the teeth and make a nice and smooth blade that when seen in the steel micro-structure has a higher density of smaller teeth. Polishing with a rotating felt is the final step and should only be done if you have enough experience.

Warning:

Knives and other sharp blades should always be held in a secured location out of reach of children and incompetent persons. On trips and when spending time outdoors, you should carry a knife in a safe place and security holster. Never leave a knife unattended and do not lend your blade to colleagues.
